In exclusive cooperation with stilwerk, Bombay Sapphire initiated the "Bombay Sapphire Design Nights", an exhibition series that would form a new platform for design and creativity.
This year's exhibition featured a bar designed by the architects GRAFT for the Blue Collection, as well as a light concept by Werner Aisslinger. Their inspiration: the Gin's fluent
The Berlin edition was to highlight the special characteristics of local designs - and so we were more than happy to be invited to do an installation for this very event.
Our idea was to create an installation that would make the public experience the gin in an emotional, almost haptic way. They should perceive it as what it is - a liquid.
For this purpose, transparent balloons filled with helium and fluorescent colour were installed, freely floating around the space. Amidst these ascending "air bubbles" that play with the feel of the all so famous combination of gin and tonic, the public should get the sense of being an immediate part of the liquid.
At the same time, the visitors' movements set the installation in motion, generating sublime effects of light and colour and thus revealing a surprising interaction between themselves and the installation.
